An Expose on the Manufactured Meth "epidemic"

Not really a local expose but interesting in the way meth is exploited by politicians even tho there is no real evidence of an epidemic.

Concerning the Pitt Bull proposed law

How about instead of the city passing another law which requires enforcement, we allows all citizens who feel threaten by any loose dog to shoot (or use whatever force is necessary) said dog without the threat of an owner lawsuit? Its simple direct action that requires no enforcement nor restriction of freedom on dog owner or potential victim. The right to self-defense is an inalienable right.

Support the Victory Missions Move to Broadway

I feel the move of Victory Mission to the old Fosters Nursing Home building is a positive event for the northside. It removes a major disincentive for Commercial Street development which sat directly in the center of this project. This will allow some of the stigma of Commercial Street to disappear as the former shelters are put to other uses.

That the neighbors should raise objections is a fact of life but the building has always served the poor as a nursing home and as a youth detention center (guess what folks there were sex offenders living there already!). To use the schools as a foil is downright slanderous. They are implying that the poor are all pedeophiles who cant wait to get their children. Forgetting that the current shelter is only a few blocks away and if they wanted their kids they could already have them. Get a life!

The Ten Commandments Idol of Aurora, MO

Its seems that Jim Luce's Idol of the Ten Commandments still stands after tornados swept once more thru his neighborhood. It still stricks me funny that those Christians who makes such graven images of the Ten Commandments don't bother actually to read them. Here are two of them:

4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them:
(Exodus 20:4-5)

Mr. Luce violated these commandments by engraving the Ten Commandments into stone. Further, He and other Christians have been observed praying at that site. To pray is to bow one's head. Also, he maintains and keeps clean the site of the idol thus he is serving them.

And I wonder what the penality for idolitry in the Bible is.......?

Of course, these Christians who take on the Law show that they have no faith in the liberty taught by Jesus of Nazareth who abolished the Law.

Meth and Local crime

Kind of wondering now about the rise in theft and property crime in Springfield/Ozark area and why no one has connected it to the decline in local meth production and the need to come up with hard cash for Mexian Ice?

How Law Enforcement made Meth worse

I watched the state police of Oklahoma the other night make propaganda about how their tough stance against the sale of cold medication has reduced the number of meth labs in that state (Missouri law enforcement is making the same claims). However, there is no evidence at all that this has reduced the amount of meth Oklahomians are actually using.

Which leads to the question of where the meth is coming from and how are they paying for it?

Human addictions like nature abhors a vacuum and the decline of domestic labs has led to the rise of meth imports (which mirrors the rest of modern American capitalism) from Mexico. These imports have to be bad to criminal gangs in hard cash. Domestic labs were generally run by Meth users themselves which brought down the cost of their addiction and allowed a lot of users to get their fix without committing other crimes. With the drastic undercutting of the domestic meth production by law enforcement, the rise of Mexican production can only be fueled by hard cash. And a lot of addicts who can no longer pay for their addictions by producing their own or by dealing (most Mexican Meth is controlled by San Salvadoran gangs) have had to turn to crime.

What these law enforcement people are not telling us when they go on TV to brag about licking the meth lab problem is that there is a growing armed robbery and theft epidemic underway. There is no evidence that meth use has declined. It seems that each action by law enforcement only creates a worse reaction.

The only solution to prevent the police from making things progressively worse is complete legalization and production of meth is an environmentally safe way.

On pregnancy care centers

The anti-abortion forces make a big deal out of their "pregnancy care centers " which provide support for some women to prevent abortion as a partial tool to end abortion. They seem to suggest that these centers would provide increasing aid when the State legislators ban abortion in Missouri or if Roe vs Wade is overturned in the Supreme Court. However, the fact remains that few of these centers existed before 1973 (and then mostly homes for "unwed" mothers which provided institutional rather than community care). That was the year in which Roe vs Wade handed down mobilizing a Christian backlash against the cultural revolution of the 1960's. If Roe gets overturned who is to say that the steam in the anti-abortion movement, which funds these "pregnancy care centers", won't run out and so to the funding. It would not be too far off the mark to say once Roe is overturned, there will be a massive closing of these centers across the land save in those states which will continue to allow abortion (Missouri will not be one of them).

On the Libertarian Party & Racism

That the local Libertarian Party is even considering allowing Glenn Miller is run as a Libertarian speaks volumes especially in light of the democratic and Republican Parties immediate denial of the use of their Parties Ticket. The libertarians should have rejected the request out of hand. I feel that Miller's belief in white supremacy is in direct conflict with the basic principles of liberty. Miller needs to be honest and run on his own ticket as an independent or as a leader of racialist party.

3-15-06 The Libertarians did eventually reject him.
